Lanka Bell announced the formal launch of its much-awaited 4G connectivity in Sri Lanka.

Following a very successful test run towards the end of 2013, Lanka Bell 4G has been made available initially in parts of Colombo and greater Colombo. Blanket coverage for the entire Colombo City is scheduled to be launched before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

“We’re happy to join the national effort to further expand Sri Lanka’s broadband capacity and thus empower Sri Lankan internet users with consistent and uninterrupted high-speed broadband internet access with the highest reliability. This also further reinforces Lanka Bell’s vision to serve Sri Lanka with faster and superior broadband services and thereby seamlessly connect our fellow Sri Lankans with world class information and communication,” Prasad Samarasinghe, Managing Director – Lanka Bell added.

Anusha Palpita, Director General – Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) said, “we welcome Lanka Bell on board the national effort to link Sri Lankans to the rest of the world with far greater connectivity and speeds. This launch will further strengthen Sri Lanka’s digital economy and take it to the next level.”
