Housed in a grand colonial mansion, the Bayleaf Restaurant offers a taste of la dolce vita in the heart of Colombo. The Bayleaf recently made a twist to its rich Italian menu, adding a range of novel tongue-twisting dishes to relish. Diners can now take a flavourful food quest to Italy at the Bayleaf.
Zuppa di Carote con Arance – cream of carrot and orange soup with dill served with garlic bread, Grigliati di Melanzane con Pesce – Tower of marinated grilled eggplant and mullet filet, layered with tomato bruschetta, and Mozzarella di Bufala – Crispy fried fresh mozzarella on a bed of mixed greens served with pepper cream sauce are the whole new starters on the new menu.
The new range of authentic Italian pastas includes Tagliatelle Bietole con avocado and gorgonzola – Homemade Beetroot pasta, Tagliatelle con Pancetta – Homemade Turmeric pasta served with bacon, walnuts and roasted pumpkin, with a touch of cream and alla Polesine – Penne pasta tossed with prawns. Another succulent addition is the Umidi di Pesce MIsto dish, which is a lovely combination of pan-fried mullet, calamari, mussels, mushroom, cherry, tomato and baby potato cooked in white wine and accompanied with lemon sauce.
Introducing a range of desserts to sink your sweet teeth into, the new menu features Sicilian Ricotta Cheese cake and Chefs special Senese – a light cookie crust of pasta flora base, with a dark chocolate, cream cheese and pine nut filling.
Bayleaf restaurant serves the new revised Italian menu along with a wide selection of fine wines and offers different dining options including a verandah, three elegant private rooms and an exclusive wine and tea room.
