Millions of sparkling lights illuminated the streets of Colombo while the dark waters of the Beira lake shone with the reflections of the numerous creative lanterns, pandols and lights that embellished the ‘Buddha Rashmi Pooja: the national Vesak Festival held at the Gangaramaya Temple which was inaugurated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa amidst other notable dignitaries.
