Located on Cross Street in Nuwara Eliya, Bungalow 1926 was built over half a century ago. Converted to provide luxurious accommodations to guests, this is a property belonging to Sinhara and Company, Colombo.
A wide arch leads to the main entrance to the building; once inside, the visitor is greeted with polished wooden floors, and timber furniture arranged within the spacious living room. A golden antique gramophone and a low hexagonal table, whose glass surface encase old coins reflects the heritage of the Bungalow.
Sepia-toned pictures of bygone Ceylon adorn the modest white walls highlighting the beautiful carvings on the furniture. Three doors lead from the living room to the bedrooms; a single double bedroom and two family suites. The two family suites are ideal for families or groups of friends and comprises two levels, which can accommodate up to five guests. Intimate rooftop seating areas where tables and chairs are placed within the two bedrooms are ideal to enjoy the cool breeze. The spacious double room comprises a seating area near a bay window, which allows guests to admire the small garden. The rooms are also equipped with state-of-the-art en suites with modern amenities, mini bar and an extensive wardrobe.
A curated menu offers delectable Sri Lankan and international cuisine, prepared by an in-house chef. Guests can enjoy their meals al fresco at the courtyard encircled by the Bungalow or at the comfortable dining room, where eight diners can indulge in a range of dishes. Due to its location, Bungalow 1926 is within easy reach of the Nuwara Eliya town centre, where visitors can enjoy a number of activities. The billiard room within the Bungalow is an alternative choice for guests who would like to spend their leisure hours indoor.
