The Ceylon Hotels Corporation (CHC) launched its Polonnaruwa Resort collection with the opening of resort hotels, the Lake House and Lake Hotel in the historic capital.
The Lake House, a deluxe boutique hotel was restored by CHC to portray the inherent characteristics of the Resort Collection. Formerly known as the Polonnaruwa Rest House, The Lake House is surrounded by many historical sites of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa, and overlooks the Parakrama Samudraya.
This charming boutique hotel accommodates 14 superior and deluxe rooms and the highlight being the Queen’s Suite, so named in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s visitation in 1954. The restaurant is cantilevered over the lake and has retained the famous ‘Rice and Curry Luncheon’ featuring locally caught lake fish and the freshwater lobster. Additionally special evening menus, bicycle tours, elephant safari and historic site tours can be arranged too.
In close proximity lies the second property that formulates the Polonnaruwa Resort Collection, the Lake Hotel overlooking the scenic beauty of the Parakrama Samudraya, is built on three acres of landscaped garden. The 40 air-conditioned deluxe rooms with all modern amenities have just completed an extensive renovation that respects both the unique location and historical significance in elegant simplicity, style and comfort.
