The Firs, a heritage bungalow in Nuwara Eliya offers luxury, repose and indulgence for a relaxing holiday, located on a little hillock overlooking Lake Gregory in a picturesque location that is within walking distance of all major sights and facilities of Nuwara Eliya, including the Victoria Golf Club and N’Eliya town.
The original bungalow was built nearly two centuries ago by Philip Freudenberg, Ceylon’s first Imperial German Counsel. His sons sold the property in the early 1900’s and it was acquired by Hon. D. S. Senenayake, Sri Lanka’s first Prime Minister and became his holiday home. The bungalow remained in the family for over a century with many historical events attached to it.
The Firs has been conceptualised according to the British Colonial era, ensuring that every aspect of the property is about luxury, and is designed to reflect the unique spirit and soul of its location, providing guests a one-of-a-kind luxury experience. Rooms consist of two luxury suites and three beautifully furnished deluxe rooms, all of which have a unique butler service. The game rooms include chess, billiards, darts and other games with comfortable coffee and cigar lounges, the Phillip’s Attic bar and spacious dining rooms to make this holiday accommodation on the edge of the hills absolutely irresistible.
