Jetwing Lagoon has won the award for Sustainable Operations at the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) 2013 Sustainable Hotel Awards.
HICAP organised by the Burba Hotel Network, Horwath HTL and Stiles Capital Events, was inaugurated in 2007 to recognise hotels in the Asia Pacific region demonstrating exemplary and sustainable best practices.
Jetwing Lagoon operates itself with the strict adaptation of eco friendly methods. The hotel has introduced a range of green initiatives including a biomass powered boiler to fulfill the air conditioning requirements of the hotel and to generate hot water, usage of energy-saving LED lighting, room lighting powered by solar panels and waste water treatment plant to re-use water within the hotel gardens.
“Jetwing Lagoon is a property which is very close to our hearts, being the first resort in Sri Lanka as well as the great Geoffrey Bawa’s first resort design. Winning a HICAP award for Sustainable Operation is certainly nothing short of amazing. As one of the newest members of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Jetwing Lagoon has come a long way—with a bright future ahead,” said Hiran Cooray, Chairman–Jetwing.
