Mobitel was honoured with the ‘Engineering – Services’ Award at the Excellence in Engineering Awards organised by the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL), for following the best practices in project management designed to operate Mobitel’s sophisticated engineering systems and processes.
The Awards, which was held under the theme ‘Engineering Excellence through Project Excellence’, commended Mobitel for its project excellence of the Stage VII project, the largest network expansion project, which consists of more than 1530 2G/3G/LTE nodes, 700 Transmission nodes and more than 430 infrastructural elements.
“Mobitel has already gained recognition both locally and internationally as a strong telco brand by securing the ISO 27001:2005 certification for Information Security Management and hopes to continue breaking boundaries.We are proud of this achieve-ment and thank the Institute of Engineers for bestowing us with this prestigious award,” Ranjith G Rubasinghe, Chief Executive Officer – Mobitel stated.
“We have been able to develop and provide state-of-art technology to our customer base, which includes 2G, 3G, 4G and WiFi services. We uphold values and best practices in project management as they enable us to synchronise these systems with Mobitel’s operational processes to achieve such performance excellence in engineering each year,” Rasantha Hettithanthrige, Senior General Manager Engineering and Operations – Mobitel commented.
