The Heritance Ahungalla hosted a celebratory welcome back party in honour of the first man in the world to take eight hundred career wickets in Test cricket, Muttiah Muralitharan.
Upon the conclusion of the Test match in Galle, Murali returned to the Heritance Ahungalla, where the team had been staying along with the Indian cricket team. Hotel staff members, along with his teammates and both local and foreign guests welcomed the star with much jubilation as he emerged from the bus. He was then presented with a veritable masterpiece of a cake, created by Chef Dimuthu Kumarasinghe.
Chef Dimuthu and his team, who specialise in unique wedding cake creations, created a forty kilogram cake depicting the legendary spin bowler’s hand in action.
A cocktail party to celebrate the tremendous achievement of Sri Lanka’s very own ‘spin wizard’ was also hosted by the Hotel, where the Sri Lankan Crick- et team along with their families helped celebrate this joyous occasion.
