AVANI Kalutara Resort (formerly known as Kani Lanka Resort & Spa) was ceremonially opened by Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development. William Heinecke, Chairman – Minor Hotels was among those who graced this occasion.
The resort has reopened after a significant renovation and refurbishment of Rs 550 million and is a joint venture between Serendib Leisure Management, the hotel arm of Hemas Holdings and Minor Hotel Group.
AVANI Kalutara is located on the mouth of the Kalu ganga, facing the lagoon in one direction and the Indian Ocean on the other. Facilities include a choice of four room types – Standard, Superior Lagoon View, Superior Sea View and Junior Suites – each with a private balcony or patio overlooking either the ocean, river or tropical gardens, two restaurants – out of which one is the main restaurant with theme night buffets and the other an a-la-carte restaurant, two bars one overlooking the lagoon and the other the sea, a gym, a water sports facility as well as a spa.
There are also facilities for business guests, which includes a conference room for up to 100 persons.
