The Port McCallum Lock Gate Café hosted a cocktail party to mark the opening of its newest Chinese restaurant, ‘Red Box Chinese Kitchen’. Located in the heart of Colombo, the restaurant is ideal to feast on a scrumptious spread, enjoying the mesmeric view of the Beira Lake.
This historical location is known as the McCallum Lock Gate that comprises a bridge over a set of lock gates connecting east Beira Lake and the Colombo harbour. Built around the year 1951 by the Colombo Public Works Department to facilitate barge traffic between ships docked in the harbour and ports on the Kelani River, the venue brings nostalgic memories of an era filled with grandeur.
The Port McCallum Lock Gate Café offers an extensive spread, which includes Sri Lankan dishes, Chinese cuisine, Western delights and seafood specialties.
