Established in the 1970s, as a 100 room property, Rajarata was considered as the largest hotel in the area at that time. Following a period of extensive refurbishment the Hotel ushers in a new era combining modern comforts with the touch of the olden grandeur to present a delightful stay to discerning travellers.
Spread across an area of two acres, the Hotel strives to capture the resplendence of a bygone era through its enchanting decor. Wooden tones fused with light hues permeate the interior as well as the exterior of Rajarata where artfully done carvings in the wooden furniture and doorways draw the gaze of any passerby. Arrayed with 50 rooms, positioned across several levels as Standard, each room is equipped with a myriad of facilities ranging from wi-fi, tea making facilities, cable tv, in room service to central air conditioning and many more. Yet again timber tones highlight the beauty of each room where spaciousness is given ample consideration with white walls and soothing colours conveying a pleasant and relaxing impression.
The first floor of the Hotel accommodates the main restaurant named Tranquil, which can be turned into a banquet hall to celebrate special moments as well. With a seating capacity of 300 guests, the restaurant serves local, eastern as well as Western cuisines—served à la carte—that tantalise the palate of guests. For those who stay at the Hotel as pilgrims, a special vegetarian menu is available to select delectables from.
Custom made ice creams where a guest can whip up their own flavours and even name it, are also available to savour and enjoy. The Escape Bar, located right next door to the restaurant, leads to the outdoor pool and provides refreshing beverages such as healthy drinks and mocktails that one could relish to find an escape from the sweltering heat.
For those who thirst for adventure or a glimpse of the yesteryears of Sri Lanka, excursions to Wilpattu National Park, Kaudulla National Park, Ritigala Natural Reserve, a hot air balloon ride or even a tour to the historical sites could be arranged. Further paying attention to the environment, Rajarata has installed efficient systems to manage energy, water—where rainwater is harvested and is reused for irrigation—and waste. The diligent staff at the Hotel also work around the clock to make sure that every need of the guests are met quenching their yearning to experience a perfect getaway.
Stroll among the manicured lawns of Rajarata or simply wallow by the pool finding delight in the cool waters, and enjoy a stay that will be etched in your memories.
