Maalu Maalu Resort and Spa completed one year in operation. “We are delighted with the success of Maalu Maalu’s operation in the newly developed area of Passikudha. Being one of the first properties to open under the “Negenahira Nawodaya” has given us the opportunity to showcase our beautiful island to the world,” said Chandra Wickramasinghe, Chairman – Maalu Maalu Resort.
Maalu Maalu currently has over 100 employees and 70 percent are recruited from the area under the initiative of providing employment for the youth in the local community while enjoying above average occupancy all year round.
Furthermore, as part of its community service initiatives, Maalu Maalu Resort funded a Computer and Language Training Centre, to educate the Youth and Children of the area. The hotel contributes USD 1 from each room occupied, towards the maintenance and development of this computer center.
The resort hosted the first foreign visitors wedding on the East Coast for a Russian Couple and their family – the first held in the area after 30 years.
Yet another accolade to the list is the Certificate of Excellence 2012 awarded by TripAdvisor.
