Boutique at Horton Place offers fashion savvy women styles from around the world, with up-to-date fashion pieces from reputed brands, providing customers an assortment of casual and dress wear, and jewelry adorned with Swarovski crystals. The most striking aspect about the beautifully hand-picked clothing is the eye for luxe detail in the embellishments, thread work, and embroidery, that have a definite air of modesty and finesse. Tahira Areeb, Fashion Designer and Chief Executive Officer of Boutique at Horton Place is the face behind this fashion store. Focusing on up-market labels and trends, there are a number of designer labels in store, Tahira has her own label under her name, which includes custom-made pieces of clothing that are exclusive and heavy on attention to detail.

This unmistakable corner space is located in a bustling landscape of Colombo, large and noticeably upbeat, the interior, however is feminine, modern and refined with warm wood details around the store. The walls are adorned with beautiful paintings of flamingos surrounded by palms, giving it a feel of a tropical paradise.

Aesthetically pleasing, the lighting from the glass globes, and the golden chandeliers paired with the airiness of the interior is occupied with shelves stacked at various levels with myriad items, while clothes in a variety of hues, designs and shapes hang on glossy gold plated frames.

The collection is vast that one can splurge in its variety, while feeling comfortable in its home-like friendly ambience. Tahira’s label offers ready to wear kaftans, dupattas, kurtas, and tunics. A range of loungewear, nightwear, cosmetics, jewelry, stationery, home decor and home wear is available as well.

The mantra that Tahira follows is simple – she wants to keep her collection, including the clothes imported from the USA, Korea and Turkey simple, devoid of the bling, but rich in detail. Simple luxury, is what she promotes, where any piece can be accessorized to dress up or dress down. ‘Modesty is the new elegance’, is a new tag in fashion, which Tahira has adopted to her range of clothing, which are practical for everyday wear and for special occasions, blending luxury with gracefulness and versatility. All custom-made clothes are stitched with the finest material from Korea and Dubai.

Shopping at the Boutique at Horton Place comes with the added treat of the adjoining Peppermint Café, founded by Tahira and her husband, Areeb Miflal. It is an all-day all night, a first of its kind dining café in Colombo, ideal for family gatherings or to celebrate your loved ones special day or event. Very much American in feel and flavor, the café serves large portions that complement the price. The airy open space is the ideal set-up for a relaxed outing.

Offering comfort food at its best, the range is indulgent and mouth-watering, from butter chicken parata to hot chili cheese with minced beef and cheese to grilled chicken with couscous, spinach, mushroom and avocado. They can be paired up with sweet chili dipping sauces and crispy fries. There’s the regular burger and fish and chips combos along with sandwiches and salads as well. The beverages from flavorful mojitos to shakes and smoothies are laced with luxuriant ingredients. The delicious desserts dribble with chocolate sauce and ganache. Croissants and ice cream sounds novel and hence is worth a try, along with pancakes fused with chocolate sauce, and choco fries. The café also boasts of a midnight menu, a relief for those looking to grab a quick bite. The 24 seven convenience store, which is also open 24 hours adjacent to the Boutique premises offers international FMCG products imported from Australia and USA are perfect for your midnight Munchies, they deliver too.

Be it fashionable clothing or comfort food, there is much to experience at the 62 precinct.
