The Wickramarachchi Institute of Speech and Hearing (WISH) held a Christmas party for cochlear-implanted children and their families. First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa was the Chief Guest at the event. The Christmas party featured a number of dance and music items from children who benefitted from cochlear implants. Several participants spoke about their experience with cochlear technology and how it benefitted them to lead a rewarding life. Speaking at the occasion Dr Mihira Wickramarachchi who introduced cochlear implants technology to Sri Lanka commented on how this technology has uplifted the lives of hearing impaired children. He went on to express his gratitude to all parties who committed time and resources to help these children.
