Elephant Reach hotel launched a training programme for visually impaired young people in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Federation of the Visually Handicapped. During this programme the young people learned to read and write using the Braille system, the use of a white cane, explored various self- employment avenues and gained the skills needed to lead a normal life.
U G D Ariyathilaka, Southern Province Social Affairs and Tourism Minister graced the occasion. Malinga Fernando, Director, Lanka Hotels and Travels said that the company is geared in organising a series of social development projects in line with its fifth anniversary.
The officials at the occasion mentioned that the programme will create an optimistic transformation of the lives of young blind people.
