Raux Brothers has three speciality boutique stores spread out across Colombo each specialising in a specific aspect or style that defines the Raux Brothers’s unique brand of elegant, timeless interiors. These stores are housed in elegant colonial buildings, former homes turned into a white-washed backdrop for the handcrafted furniture or carefully sourced decorative items.
The Heritage Store at De Fonseka Road is the first of these stores, set up nearly 18 years ago when Raux Brothers first moved their showrooms into Colombo. It’s currently being revamped to fit into the style of spacious interiors as in their other stores.
The Heritage Store features a range of new designs from the Raux Brothers Heritage line of furniture. Portuguese and Dutch designs, with rattan and woven finishes are hand crafted into unique masterpieces by skilled craftsmen. “Our furniture is entirely custom made, and each piece in the Heritage line has a strong colonial influence” said Kalani Raux, Director of Raux Brothers.
Home accents that complement the heritage era are also found in the Heritage Store. These include figures, carvings and eclectic items like antique door knockers, mirrors, gramophones, clocks, and a range of black and white prints from the colonial era, depicting life in a bygone era.
