Heritance Ahungalla and Heritance Tea Factory secured seven awards and a merit certificate out of ten recognitions for the service sector at the National Cleaner Production Awards 2010. Heritance Ahungalla and Heritance Tea Factory won gold and silver service sector awards respectively. Heritance Tea Factory received an award of Excellence for energy, water and material utilisation. Heritance Ahungalla claimed an award of Excellence for water and material utilisation and a merit certificate for energy utilisation.
Refhan Razeen, General Manager, Jayantha Madanayake, Chief Engineer and Ravindra Kumara, Assistant Engineer / Environment Management Representative were part of the team that represented Heritance Ahungalla. The team from Hertitance Tea Factory consisted of Roshanlal Perera, General Manager and Amila Gamage, Chief Engineer and Environment Management Representative (EMR).
These awards are presented to progressive companies and service organisations that have voluntarily adopted cleaner production as a tool for increasing productivity while, minimising waste and emissions at source rather than treating after it’s generated.
