From a distance Hotel Heritance Kandalama looms discreetly in a cloak of green velvet tapestry.
One would think that it has donned camouflage and indeed it remains unobtrusive in its surroundings, in spite of its sheer size. It spans a distance of almost one kilometre end-to-end, and conveys a unique architecture moulded into an anatomy of the outspread wings of a bird. Since its beginnings in 1994, this living testimony of large-scale eco tourism has ventured into the next big step in nurturing nature.
Words Prasadini Nanayakkara
Going green is not taken lightly at Heritance Kandalama. Aside from the greenery that sweeps over its façade rendering it enticingly exotic, the hotel has a 13 branch green philosophy. This con-scientious nature was ingrained right from its inception for the most part due to its location within the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka, including five UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
