Hilton Colombo secured 14 awards at the Culinary Art Food Expo 2017. 12 elite chefs of the Hilton Colombo were awarded under various categories including Sri Lankan cuisine, pastry and fine dining. The winning culinary team of the hotel was led by Executive Chef Kazi Hassan. The highest award of Gold was awarded to R M Ajith K Rathnayake for the ‘Five Course Set Dinner Menu’; Sujanthi Kodithuwakku and Ruchira Siriwardena for the ‘Petit Fours and Pralines’. Kalpani Wijesekara was awarded under the ‘Contemporary Sri Lankan Cuisine’ category. The Silver awards were won by Ruchira Siriwardena for ‘Flambé Dessert’; Thushara Sanjaya for ‘Dilmah Always Tea Time’; Champika Rajapaksha for ‘Butter Sculptor’ and P Athugiriaiarchchi for the category ‘Dress the Cake’.
In addition to the above mentioned awards, Nisansala Ranasinghe won Silver under the ‘Dress the Cake’ category and Bronze in the ‘Apprentice Dessert Live’ section.
Winners in the Bronze category included Dushantha Wegodapola for ‘Contemporary Sri Lankan Cuisine’; S L I G Liyanage for ‘Hot and Cold finger food’; R G M Raaji for ‘Plated Appetizers’ and Odaka Isuru Piyasekara for ‘Apprentice Live Cooking’.
