Hilton Colombo won a total of 9 medals at the FHA 2010 Culinary Challenge in Singapore.
Buddhika Samarasekera won a gold medal for ‘Ethnic Asian Meal’, a silver medal for ‘Plated Appetizers’ and a bronze medal for ‘Plated Main Dishes’ and Daminda De Silva won a gold medal for ‘Dough Figurine’ and a silver medal for ‘Bread Dough’ and another silver medal for ‘Chocolate Carving’. K L Manawadu won a silver medal for ‘Live Cooking’, two bronze medals for ‘Plated Appetizers’ and ‘Plated Main Dishes’ Rohan Fernandopulle, Executive Chef of Hilton Colombo, who led the team said “We practiced for months and we are very proud of our achievement.
The competition was tough. The judges expectations were high and similar to the Culinary Olympics. Method, correct techniques, presentation and taste were all taken into consideration. Aspects in new trends in food such as modern, contemporary, chic and trendy were looked at during this competition.”
