Hilton Colombo has been honoured with the ISO 22000:2005 certificate from SGS Sri Lanka affiliated to SGS Switzerland. It is a requirement of Food and Safety Management Systems for any organisation in the food chain to obtain this certification.
The whole safety management operation was headed by the Executive Chef, Rohan Fernandopulle, with the assistance of the food and safety team leader, Chef Samila Kumarasinghe, and supported by the food safety team, individuals selected from the kitchen. There are eleven kitchens and twelve Food and Beverage outlets to monitor, which is no easy task.
The Executive Chef, Rohan Fernandopulle, the key motivator of the project said, “Hilton Colombo has always dealt with quality and best practice; it is indeed an honour to be awarded this internationally recognised certification.” He added that serving safe food is important since there they have a moral and a legal obligation towards their guests and team members.
