HUTCH Sri Lanka has opened its fourth Signature+ outlet in Galle, strengthening its sustainability-focused retail expansion following launches in Colombo Fort, Kandy, and Negombo. The Signature+ concept promotes environmentally responsible retail design, with nearly 90 percent of outlet interiors crafted from sustainably sourced and repurposed materials. Reclaimed pallet wood, kumburu seeds, arecanut leaves, and banana bark are transformed into premium fixtures by local craftsmen, supporting circular economy practices and local communities.
The Galle outlet operates on renewable energy and provides a safe e-waste disposal facility for end-of-life devices, alongside a welcoming environment for customers to explore HUTCH products and services.
HUTCH’s parent company, CK Hutchison Group, operates over 17,000 retail outlets globally, including more than 4,000 green retail locations. Nearly 65 percent of the power used across its telecommunications networks comes from renewable energy.
Saumitra Gupta, CEO, HUTCH Sri Lanka, highlighted the significance of launching the outlet in Galle, where environmental conservation complements the city’s UNESCO World Heritage status. He reaffirmed HUTCH’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s carbon neutrality goal for 2050 through sustainable retail practices, infrastructure, and community engagement. Through its Signature+ expansion, HUTCH continues to combine sustainable innovation with enhanced customer experiences.
