HUTCH launched its Kandy Signature+ outlet, the third under its sustainability-centric retail concept, following Colombo Fort and Negombo. Nearly 90 percent of the outlet’s interior is created from sustainably sourced and repurposed materials, including reclaimed pallet wood, arecanut leaves, banana bark and kumburu seeds, handcrafted by local artisans. The nature-inspired space offers customers a welcoming environment to explore HUTCH products and services while supporting local communities and the circular economy. The outlet also uses renewable energy and facilitates e-waste recycling for the responsible disposal of end-of-life mobile devices, reinforcing HUTCH’s commitments under the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
“Sustainability is not a footnote for us; it is built into how we operate,” said Saumitra Gupta, CEO, HUTCH Sri Lanka, noting that the concept reflects deliberate choices around energy, materials, craftsmanship, and communities. Combining responsible design with customer convenience and a premium experience, HUTCH plans to expand its Signature outlet network nationwide, setting a new benchmark for sustainable retail and enterprise services across Sri Lanka.
