Religious ceremonies were held at the Gangaramaya Temple to invoke blessings on Ven Galboda Gnanissara Thero as well as the devotees for their gracious support to the temple.
The Gangaramaya Temple, under the direction of its Chief Incumbent Ven Galboda Gnanissara Thero, fondly known as Podi Hamuduruwo, organised numerous religious ceremonies to bestow blessings on devotees as well as well-wishers in appreciation of their support during trying times. Furthermore, the Dhayaka Sabha of the temple also arranged ceremonies to bestow blessings on Podi Hamuduruwo.
Several events took place as a part of the pinkama. Mid-day alms were provided to 30 monks and later to another 300 samanera (novice monks). Presenting of ata pirikara (eightfold requisites) and granting of scholarships to novice monks also took place. Present at the pinkama were the Maha Nayaka and Anu Nayaka theros of the three nikayas, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ministers Sagala Ratnayake and Malik Samarawickrama and Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Also present were Ranjith Wijewardena, Chief Dhayaka; members of the Dhayaka Sabha; key officials of political parties; members of the corporate sector and a large gathering of devotees.
