The Bayleaf restaurant, in its 20th year, continues to add special features that interest many guests and visitors. The Bayleaf Art Gallery was launched in December 2024 to promote local talent in art and creativity on the upper level. The Gallery has been featuring talented Sri Lankan artists each month.
It was launched with the painting ‘Flowers Do Have Dreams’ by well-known artist Chaminda Gamage. Gamage is a state Award Winner for Painter of the Year, Visiting Lecturer, Faculty of Visual Arts, University of the Visual and Performing Arts, Colombo, and Founder Member of Colombo Artists Sri Lanka.

Artist Sanjeewa Ilangarathne.
It was followed by the ‘Quest for Tranquility’ exhibition by K. D. Lakshman. Lakshman could see beyond the obvious in his teenage years. Throwing himself into the world of conservation brought him into contact with a range of unusual and talented personalities.
The captivating exhibition ‘A Language of Horns’ by Sanjeewa Ilangarathne is currently on display. A bull embodies a remarkable presence—both spectral and immense. Its powerful essence resonates even in stillness, casting a lasting shadow across time.
The collection explores the bull as more than an animal – an embodiment of power, myth, and silent strength. Through bold strokes, shifting forms, and deep textures, each artwork tells an unspoken story. Horns, muscles, and dust form a primal language of power, grace, tradition, and defiance, echoing timelessly.
