Mount Lavinia Hotel claimed gold, silver and bronze medals at the Emirates Salon Culinaire competition. The Mount Lavinia Hotel team consisted of A K Jayasekera, K C Jayasuriya, and D S A Hettiarachchi. Over 1,300 young chefs competed in the Emirates Salon Culinaire. Starting from practical cooking competitions to buffet and banqueting show pieces, chefs from across the globe showcased their talent in the competition.
The Emirates Salon Culinaire is a series of practical and display-based culinary competitions; entry is open to professional chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and bakers. Each competition is called a ‘class’. Each class of the various competitions is intended to test the differing skills of entrants, whilst also celebrating the preparation and presentation of food and its accoutrements in attractive and pleasing forms.
