Being firm believers that education is the best gift that could be given to children; ZAM Group of Companies spearheaded the noble cause of donating an auditorium to Fathima Muslim Ladies College in Colombo, thus fulfilling a timely need of the school.
The newly constructed auditorium of Fathima Muslim Ladies College was declared open by Chief Guest President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who unveiled the plaque at the opening.
The construction of the four storeyed building was conducted and funded entirely by ZAM Group of Companies under the leadership of its Chairman Al Haj Z A M Refai.
The ceremony saw the participation of distinguished guests—Senior Minister A H M Fowzie, Bandula Gunewardene, Minister of Education, Alavi Moulana, Governor of the Western Province, A J M Muzammil, Mayor of Colombo, Nouzer Fowzie, Former Member of the Provincial Council, H N Yusuf, Principal of the school, teachers, students and parents.
President Rajapaksa in his address at the occasion expressed his gratitude to Al Haj Z A M Refai and ZAM Group of Companies for providing financial support while commending all who contributed to the project.
President Rajapaksa further stated that, “the Government is committed to provide the best education opportunities for children irrespective of racial differences.As such we expect the students to receive a good education and be knowledgeable citizens who will be the vanguard of creating a moralistic society.”
