Creating an ambience of cosy familiarity while maintaining a chic and trendy atmosphere, Curve is the latest tapas, drinks and music lounge in the heart of Colombo.

Situated adjacent to Park Street Mews restaurant, Curve–Tapas, Bar, Music comes under the umbrella of Harpo Cafes and Restuarants Group. This encompasses a unique concept of blending the tropical elements of the original building with a modern touch to create a truly novel experience. Offering a delectable menu of tapas, a wide range of healthy juices and exciting cocktails and of course music, the Curve offers an alternative to the usual.

The colour theme of the interior is purple where the darker shade has been maintained on the walls and the lighter shade for the comfortable seating. Metallic bar stools and cocktail tables have been utilised to give a chic ambience. The central feature is the curvaceous bar and the artistic circular design on the ceiling. It is no wonder that the name of this bar lounge is the Curve. A high tech feel has been created with the placing of lights and the walls are of a different texture to absorb sound. The Curve can accommodate up to 70 for cocktails and 40 for a sit down function.

The Curve also provides workshops in Mixology, Tapas and Sangria making, where they give an opportunity for people to learn something new

Having an open street at its doorstep, guests can either sit inside or outside or move about. The aim of Curve is to make a comfortable and relaxing space to come in regularly, and feel free and at home. The Curve is about creating a community, where people will be able to experience and learn about new flavours and experience different tastes. Tapas is Mediterranean style finger food, which is a meal to share with others and can provide an alternative light meal for lunch or dinner. Curve offers a delectable selection of tapas and a few of its signature dishes include Crab Croquettes, Mushrooms in Garlic and Jamon Bruschetta. The tapas menu is changed on a regular basis to offer something new and fresh to its regular customers and includes both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Additionally monthly specials separate from the main menu are also introduced. Ingredients are sourced locally while herbs and spices that are required to infuse the Mediterranean flavour are brought down.

Daniel Alexander, Corporate Beverage Manager of Curve is a mixologist and has introduced a wide range of beverages that are well balanced concoctions of flavours, colours and ingredients. With over 15 years experience in five countries, Daniel wishes to, “set the standard in bar tending and cocktails” in Sri Lanka. The drink selection not only includes cocktails but also has a newly introduced selection of healthy healing juices using both fruits and vegetables that provide relief for any ailment, from the common cold and flu to lethargy and insomnia. “We serve juices with sugar on the side so it is up to you whether you want to add sugar. All these juices are extracted not blended. You will not find any pieces floating in the drink. This is a very good way to get your required nutrients especially in this very high paced life,” explains Daniel. The cocktails too have interesting names, blends and colours that can be tailor-made according to the clients requirement.

The Vault is a private area, which can accommodate ten people and is ideal for small gatherings. Originally a bank vault in the olden days it is a chic space ideal for a gathering. High tables and stools are placed on either side with a small path in the middle leading to the miniature bar area. Music at the Curve is provided by live bands during the week and DJ music on Friday and Saturday. On days that entertainment is not provided guests are more than welcome to play their own music where iPod and iPhone docks are available. A comedy club meets once a month on Friday and provides a hilarious comedy night. The Curve is open  from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm from Monday to Thursday and extends till 1.00 am on Friday and Saturday.

Curve creates an ambience of leisure and relaxation with street dining and a summer feel that reflects the tropical and laid back nature of Sri Lanka.
