Established in 1957, The Overseas School of Colombo (OSC) takes students aged 3 – 18 through an educational program designed to build on student strengths and capture their imagination, whilst engaging their creative and critical capacities.
The expansive campus in Pelawatte is serene and apt for an academic environment. OSC is well facilitated with a library, fine arts centers, an indoor sports complex and a swimming pool. In addition to the interactive classrooms that allow experimenting and peer-learning, OSC also offers unique activity rooms called ‘Makerspaces,’ where students can let their creativity flow freely, inspiring innovation and craftsmanship. Student leadership opportunities aim to mould next-gen leaders who are ready to take on the challenges of the future.
OSC fosters growth through collaboration. With a student-teacher ratio of 1:7, each student is given ample attention by their teachers and tutors. Students are encouraged to think critically and creatively, with access to online databases and the teaching of research skills incorporated into the curriculum from the early stages.
Athleticism is a hallmark at OSC: the school gym displays the many accolades won by the OSC ‘Geckos’ internationally. Fine arts are highly encouraged, and many foreign and Sri Lankan state languages are choices for those who opt to learn. Community service programs around the year motivate the students to inculcate community values and understand the true meaning of caring for others.
OSC is home to students and teachers belonging to over 45 nationalities. This translates into learning of collaboration and harmony, preparing the child to become a global citizen in an ever-transforming world.
