The Siddhalepa Ayurveda Health Resort won two awards at the EU SWITCH-Asia Greening Hotels Awards 2012, winning the Best Green Hotel in the SME category as well as being adjudged the overall Energy Conservation Champion in the SME category.
The Chief Guest at the awards ceremony was Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Environment while Bernard Savage, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and Maldives was the guest of honour.
Greening Sri Lankan Hotels is a European Commission funded project under the Switch-Asia programme. It is targeted at enhancing the environmental performance of Sri Lankan hotels through improvement of energy, water and waste management systems, reducing cost of operations and increasing market acceptance of Sri Lankan hotels through their promotion as low carbon footprint, green hotels.
Commenting on the achievement by the Siddhalepa Resort, Dr Victor Hettigoda, Chairman of Siddhalepa Ayurveda Health Resort said, “we are honoured to have won these prestigious awards.
