With the festive season around the corner, The Kingsbury has teamed up with Sir Ian Botham (former England Test Captain and legendary Cricket idol) for an elaborate season and promises to raise the bar in hospitality.
The preparations began with the cake mixing ceremony under the direction of the Executive Chef – Kithsiri De Silva.
Other participants in this traditional ceremony were key Kingsbury personalities— Lalin Samarawickrema, Managing Director, Sunil Dissanayake, General Manager, Denesh Silva, Head of Marketing and Sales, Dayal Fernando, Director Operations, heads of departments and hotel guests who hit sixes and boundaries in spreading good tidings and happiness throughout The Kingsbury.
We can trace the Christmas cake’s roots to an old English tradition that began as plum porridge. People ate the porridge on Christmas Eve, using it to fill their stomachs after a day of fasting. Soon dried fruit, spices and honey were added to the porridge mixture, and eventually it turned into Christmas cake as we know it today. At The Kingsbury, old traditions and good old fashioned hospitality is the way of life.
