Cuisines showcasing unique culinary expertise by chefs locally and from around the world was hosted at a public event, as a Hawker’s Street Food Promotion, at the Board Walk by Diyawanna Lake. The Board Walk venue took on a festive air with live music, cookery demonstrations, cooking competitions and special cultural programmes.
The festival was seen as an ideal opportunity for tourists who are holidaying in Sri Lanka to experience a variety of cuisine from countries like Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Pakistan, China, Japan, and Singapore, Middle Eastern and Latin American dishes.
Participating hotels and restaurants were Hilton Colombo for Chinese specialties, Cinnamon Lakeside for Vietnamese, Cinnamon Grand for Pakistani, Galle Face and Grand Oriental Hotels for Singaporean, Galadari Hotel for Egyptian, Hilton Residences for Malaysian, Mount Lavinia Hotel for Latin American, Ramada Colombo and Mango Tree for North Indian, Taj Samudra for Australian, Waters Edge for Japanese, Siam House and Jack Tree for Thai cuisine, The Sizzle for their sizzling mains and desserts, and Raja Bojun for Sri Lankan.
