The Tourism Leaders’ Summit and International Tourism Research Symposium 2017 will host the research conference on October 3. This year’s theme is “Sustainable Tourism for Development – Way Forward for Sri Lanka”.
The announcement was made by the organiser as well as key strategic collaborators: Alumni Association of Tourism Economics and Hospitality Management (AATHEM), Department of Economics and Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo and Ministry of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs.
John Amaratunga, Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs; Venerable Prof W Wimalarathana, Head, Department of Economics, UoC as well as Kavan Ratnayake, Chairman, SLTDA were present at the press conference. Udaya Nanayakkara, Chairman, SLPB; Prema Cooray, Chairman, SLCB; Sunil Dissanayake, Chairman, SLITHM; P U Rathnayake, Director, SLTDA; Dr D A Suranga Silva, Founder of the Masters in Tourism Economics and Hotel Management; T B B Sumith, Industry Facilitator; Kasun Abeynayaka, Secretary, Tourism Leaders’ Summit and Int Research Symposium and Student Leader of the Summit; and Roshi Stronach, Project in-charge of the Summit also attended the briefing.
16 internationally acknowledged speakers will share their knowledge at the summit while at least 1500 participants are exptected to attend. A Tourism Walk, Women Tourism Conference and Cricket Carnival will be held in line with the summit.
