The ‘World Volkswagen Day’ celebrations organised by Volkswagen Owners Beetle Club was held successfully. A number of 200 participants were present at the event which began at Independence Square and ended at Mount Lavinia Hotel.
This year, the Club spotlighted two personalities who brought fame to the VW Beetle. Upali Karunasena, who popularised the Volkswagen brand name in the race circuit, and Kamini Vitharana, a pioneer Lady VW Driver from the early fifties, received recognition at the event.
