Prasanna Wickramasuriya, Chairman, Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (AASL), together with Kamal Ratwatte, Deputy Chairman, AASL and other senior members of AASL drew the five winning coupons, which entitled the lucky shoppers to win the total prize money of one million rupees.
The first prize winner will receive Rs 500,000 with Rs 250,000 and Rs 150,000 being won respectively by the second and third prize winners. The fourth placed winner receives Rs 75,000 with the fifth placed winner receiving Rs 25,000.
The BIA Shopping Festival was organised by AASL in collaboration with all the shops at the departure lounge of BIA. The primary aim of this festival was to promote the BIA as a preferred shopping destination given the dramatic rise of visitors to Sri Lanka, it was stated. This shopping festival was significant since it was the first shopping event coinciding with the theme “Refreshingly Sri Lanka Visit 2011” organised by Sri Lanka Tourism. It was also noted that AASL plans to have more such seasonal promotions in the future to entice and attract increased numbers of passengers to shop at BIA.
