Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo achieved its latest ‘crowning glory’, by being awarded five Crowns at the Crowns for Food Hygiene awards ceremony. Presenting the prestigious award at the ceremony was the Chief Guest, P Dayaratne, Minister of Food Security. The accolade was a result of extensive pre and final assessments carried out by the Sri Lanka tourism development authority (SLTDA) in partnership with Ind-Expo certification, a joint venture of the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries and the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka. The programme is supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and is being implemented in affiliation with the Ministry of Industrial Development.
Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo has continuously developed and maintained efficient food safety management systems and provides all its patrons the highest quality food for consumption. The hotel employs a Hygiene Manager who takes responsibility in controlling and minimising factors related to food borne diseases. At the onset of this year, the Institute of Food Safety trained 35 food handlers from Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, on food safety aspects, including topics such as food borne disease and prevention, food poisoning and prevention, personal hygiene as well as food legislation and pest control.
