The homely dining room

This quaint British style bungalow is reminiscent of a bygone era. Located on Cross Street in Nuwara Eliya town, guests staying at Bungalow 1926 owned by Sinhara and Company, can enjoy all the beauty of chilly ‘Little England’. When you enter through the main wooden doors
you are embraced by the colonial elegance. The glossy teak floors and antique furniture sets the mood for a true Nuwara Eliya holiday.

The central sitting area is fully furnished with a comfortable settee and is ideal to relax and sip on a hot cup of tea or coffee. The three rooms of the property open into this sitting area. With 1 double room and 2 family rooms, which can accommodate up to 5 people each, Bungalow 1926 provides a cosy setting. All rooms come with a mini bar and plasma TV and are furnished with period style furniture. The family rooms consist of both a ground and upper floor. The large teak wardrobes and comfy beds are placed to provide ample space. The upper flooropens out to a private balcony.

Although the temperature can drop in Nuwara Eliya, with heating facilities and hot water you are bound to have a relaxing stay at Bungalow 1926.

Delicious meals can be served in the courtyard or dining room. The dining room consists of a single large table with ample seating, while the courtyard can accommodate up to 4 people and is suitable for lunch. The main dining room is very much in line with the colonial ambience that this unique property entails.

The upper level of a family room

With an in-house chef to cater to all your meal requirements the menu at Bungalow 1926 is a mix of Sri Lankan and western cuisine; BBQ and grills as well as tasty Italian pastas are on offer. While the kitchen mainly serves in-house guests, pre-bookings can be made by outside guests for lunch or dinner or even afternoon tea or coffee. To enjoy an evening of billiards with family and friends or sit and cheer on a game of football, the pool room is the place to be.

While the furnishing and interior decor exemplifies a truly colonial ambience, the arrangements are such that modern hospitality and facilities are key features at Bungalow 1926. With the Nuwara Eliya season fast approaching, what better way to experience Little England than enjoying a stay at a British style bungalow.
