The Cinnamon Grand joined in the worldwide event ‘Earth Hour’, shutting off the lobby lights of the hotel. Joining in the celebration of a worldwide commitment to protecting our planet, Cinnamon Grand Green Team engaged children, in-house guests and patrons with environmental friendly entertainment that included dancers, fusion drumming and singing at Nuga Gama, a village-themed authentic Sri Lankan restaurant. There was also a slogan competition at each restaurant of Cinnamon Grand, the winners of which were awarded a special Earth Hour mug designed especially for this event.
Sports celebrities such as South African born cricket commentator and former English Test cricketer, Tony Greig who was distinguished Chief Guest for Earth Hour at the Cinnamon Grand, and English cricketer Samit Patel supported this cause. Mayor-elect for the Colombo Municipal Council A J M Muzammil also joined in and lit a candle for Earth Hour.
