For the third successive year Hilton Colombo joined Worldwide and the Hilton Brand in committing to the World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) Earth Hour initiative this year. All lights were switched off in all the Food & beverage outlets and lobby, The laundry machines, boilers, swimming pool pumps, tennis court lights, hotel logo neon light, concessionaire shop lights and pond pumps were switched off too for n hour on the night of “Earth Hour”. Apart from the above, one elevator was shut down, back corridor lights were reduced by 50 percent and all floor corridors kept on an emergency lighting. However, the hotel did not neglect any of their customers as there were candles lit in all Food & Beverage and lobby area.
This year Hilton Colombo’s “Blue Energy” Committee, another initiative by the Hilton Family, will also take part in this campaign. This volunteer Committee will be the driving force in delivering Hilton’s Brand Promise and will be the heart of the Hilton culture at the Hilton Colombo.
