The Guild is a one-stop interior decoration provider with a range of artefacts and decorative items

Sunlight filters through the trees along Stratford Avenue in Kirulapone and highlights the unique home décor and elegant furniture displayed through the glass façade of The Guild.

Contemporary styles create unique decor

The Guild is a one-stop solution for interior decorations, artefacts, artwork and furniture. Subtly painted walls and white shelves of the store draw attention to the products. Co-founded by Sudantha Soysa and Theekshana Ratnasekera – a husband and wife duo –  The Guild provides personalised and bespoke designs.

The pleasant aroma of fragrant candles drifts over the ground floor, and a bronze bust of a statue provides a contrast. A metallic sculpture of an owl peers at the visitor from a display unit where small decorative items are placed. Colourful vases, ornamental items, wood carvings and lampshades are showcased on the shelves.

On the first floor, baskets woven in reeds, vases, wood-carved fruit bowls and other decorative items are available. Paintings are hung on the walls following different art techniques such as abstract and wildlife.

On the second floor, an elegant sofa with a unique coffee table stands as evidence to The Guild’s continuing commitment towards furniture where quality combines with novel designs. Both Sudantha and Theekshana collaborate with the customers to create unique interior solutions. At The Guild, everything from coffee tables to bedroom sets, dining tables, chairs and wardrobes can be manufactured with customised designs. Using timber such as teak, mahogany and even mara, the craftsmen of The Guild create unique furniture. The Guild focuses on customer oriented service and flexibility, to deliver a product that accommodates the customer’s requirements.

Expanding horizons by diversifying into design and management

The third floor features exquisite artwork imported from South Eastern artists. The distinctive artwork is rarely repeated, ensuring that each customer receives an exclusive item to decorate their homes.

In order to provide holistic interior solutions, The Guild collaborates with several leading interior solution providers. Therefore, the company is capable of catering to the clients’ every need from furniture to linen, electronics to decorative items and lighting.

In 2019, The Guild plans to expand their horizons by diversifying into designing and management. With his passion for architecture and creativity, Sudantha Soysa has already designed an award-winning residence, and together with his business partner, wife Theekshana Ratnasekera, is constructing yet another house in Nugegoda. The house, designed by the duo, features a state-of-the-art pantry, novel décor, 100 windows and is constructed with steel, glass and timber.

This year the store will also focus on its range of furniture for the convenience of customers. The Guild will present the furniture in several arrangements to create an impression of how different furniture can complement each other.

“We are a completely service oriented company, and we provide absolute warranties. We work with passion,” said Sudantha Soysa.
