Kurahan gala, pittu bambuwa, koraha… when was the last time you saw them being used in an urban Sri Lankan kitchen? Or better yet, even hear of them? Traditional Sri Lankan cooking utensils remain in memory alone for us townsfolk. Our modern kitchen counter tops are now cluttered with shiny new electronics as the old nembilia hidden away within the kitchen cupboards and the lonely mirisgala that stands idle by the wall look on in envy at these foreign invaders who have replaced their years of hard work.
