Odel launched the first ever mobile Point of Sales (POS) services in the country joined together with WSO2 – the US based middle technology company. The mobile Point of Sales terminal offers speedier processing of card-based payments for clients who visit the store.
The mobile Point of Sales services will be available in addition to the fixed cashiers’ terminals at the ODEL store in Alexandra Place, which is the only store that has the facility currently.
Commenting on the launch, Otara Gunewardene, Founder and CEO, ODEL said, “The growth of the use of credit and debit cards in Sri Lanka makes mobile POS devices for card-based transactions an important value addition. We are delighted to have teamed up with WSO2 and taken this step”.
An Apple iPod touch device is able to scan the label of a product that the customer requires anywhere within the store. The receipt will be given on the spot or e-mailed.
